I was extremely honoured to have been asked to speak at the “Cheers For Volunteers” event hosted by “Volunteer Airdrie” to commend and praise the hardworking volunteers in our beautiful city! I got the chance to meet some wonderful fellow volunteers and participate in some awesome games to win prizes from some amazing sponsors like “MaidPro” and “Hoodoo Designs.” Not only did I get the chance to speak but I also got to pull for the draw of these prizes and hand some lucky winners some goodies!
I got to meet Airdrie’s Pro Rodeo Princess who also spoke about her volunteer experience and how important volunteers are! I also got to meet Chris Nobel who is not only part of the NDP party but also a local man who helped form “Slam Airdrie” which is a organization that helps local musicians get on stage in our community! I absolutely love this idea as I believe that music is huge escape for many. I personally know when I’m on stage, I feel unstoppable! It’s the most amazing feeling and I’m so glad there are programs like this to help encourage and inspire our local musicians.
I strongly believe volunteers are the heart and soul of our community. Without volunteers there would be no fairs, parades, or fun events in my city! They are what make my city home and I am proud to be in such a warm, supportive and accepting community, filled with so many great people I’m lucky to call friends! A lot of my friends I met while volunteering! Not only do you create lifelong memories, but you can also develope a skill set to bring into the future with volunteering. It’s programs like “Volunteer Airdrie” that help create leaders in our home. Thank you to all those that helped put on this incredible event and those who came to support our fellow volunteers!
